About the vacancy
Lead Backend Engineer to own the architecture and technical vision of a high-traffic Ruby on Rails platform for mobile-first consumer-facing apps. The role includes leading a team of 4–5 backend engineers, scaling systems on AWS, and improving performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 mid/senior backend engineers, including 1:1s, feedback, and performance management.
- Translate product and business goals into technical roadmaps, sprint plans, and backend priorities.
- Own the backend architecture and technical vision for mobile-first, consumer-facing apps.
- Drive implementation of new features for mobile apps with iOS, Android, Product, Data, DevOps, and Trust & Safety teams.
- Make architectural decisions related to scalability, performance, reliability, data flows, and AWS infrastructure.
- Resolve performance bottlenecks and improve API speed and reliability.
- Design caching and database strategies.
