My Daily Hunt for New Tools
Elevate your productivity by dedicating just 10 minutes daily to discovering innovative SaaS tools. It's a simple habit that can revolutionize your workflow.
Hello, Remote Leader π
One question I often get asked by friends, customers, and followers is, "How do you discover new tools?"
Whether it's to streamline communication, enhance productivity, or simplify project management, staying ahead with the latest SaaS tools is crucial in the remote work landscape.
Here's a peek into my method for keeping our toolkit cutting-edge.
The Art of Tool Discovery
Finding the next game-changer for your remote team isn't just luck; it's a skill.
Here's how you can master it π
1) Websites and Platforms
Start with treasure troves like Product Hunt, AppSumo, or IndieHackers, where new and innovative tools are showcased daily. These platforms allow you to see what's new what's trending, and even snag deals on upcoming SaaS products.
In most cases, finding a super product early on will allow you to take up a once-in-a-lifetime offer, such as a lifetime deal (you pay once and use it forever).
2) Linkedin & X
Follow thought leaders and influencers in the tech and remote workspace on platforms like LinkedIn and X. They usually share insights and personal experiences with tools that could be transformative for your operations.
3) Tech Newsletters
Subscribe to newsletters that focus on tech startups and SaaS tools. Websites like TechCrunch and SaaS Mag offer curated insights into the tech world's latest developments.
My favorite, above all, is Refactoring.club, written by my close friend Luca Rossi.
4) Online Communities
Join forums and communities like Reddit's r/SaaS or Slack channels dedicated to remote work. These communities are goldmines for recommendations and firsthand user experiences.
5) Discovery Email
I suggest setting up a dedicated email for tool exploration to keep your primary inbox clutter-free. Create a separate email ID and dive headfirst into the sea of SaaS offerings.
From project management wizards to automation gurus, the digital landscape is brimming with solutions waiting to simplify your life.
By being aware of what's available, you're not just staying updated; you're actively finding ways to make your (and your team's) work-life smoother and more efficient.
Practical Advice: Your Discovery Email
To keep your primary inbox clutter-free, consider setting up a free email domain exclusively for this purpose. Here's how you can do it:
Get a Cheap Domain: Websites like NameCheap offer nearly-free domains, including popular options like .us or .com. A simple registration process, and voilΓ , you have your discovery domain ready.
Set Up Email Forwarding: Once you have your domain, services like ImprovMX and ForwardEmail will let you set up free email forwarding. Any tool exploration or newsletter sign-ups can go directly to this specialized inbox, which then forwards to your primary email. It's efficient and keeps your tool discovery organized.
Why This Matters
It's not just about knowing where to look; it's about adopting a framework and mindset that turns your curiosity into actionable steps to scout the following big tool.
Dedicate just 10 minutes each day to exploration, and don't hesitate to sign up for trials or demos using your discovery email. This hands-on approach will familiarize you with what's out there and help you evaluate what works for your team.
The journey to discovering new tools is an ongoing process of curiosity, exploration, and evaluation. By setting aside just a little time each day for this endeavor, you're not just finding new software but investing in the continuous improvement and innovation of your remote team's workflow.
That's all for this Saturday.

Great article! Iβve been creating short form content on Linked in for a while and I am considering doing substack too. But found it a bit overwhelming to set up everything.
